Parvathi Sadan felt that some one was looking at it. It wasn’t sure who was looking and why but felt a conscious feeling and tried to look around to see who was looking but couldn’t.

Adit Nivas saw Lakshmi Nilayam looking in and around and was curious to know why but didn’t ask.

Simran Mansion looked up and down at itself but wouldn’t look beyond that.

The couldn’t, didn’t and wouldn’t told themselves that they could and would and they did!! What did they do? They conversed 🙂

Parvathi Nivas (PN): Can you tell me why you are looking constantly at me, Lakshmi Nilayam?

Lakshmi Nilayam (LN): You look solid and spacious.

Adit Nivas (AN): So do you, in your own way.

Simran Mansion (SM): I am tall but not sure if I am spacious and solid.

LN: PN looks deep, SM looks tall and AN looks wide but I don’t know what I am.

AN: What makes you say this?

LN: Well, I have a lot of things kept in me – a settee, an armchair, a few cane chairs, a couple of moodas and a few corner tables to keep artefacts. When people come in, they see all this and not the space.

SM: Wow!! You must be looking beautiful then. As for me, I think I will look  spacious, if they had painted me with softer colours. I think my colours are loud but people living in me, say that they feel bright when they see me.

LN: Colours make a difference then.. That also means people will look at the colours more than the space isn’t it?

SM: They will but I really don’t care about it. I look at myself and admire me for what I am.

PM: AN, you are very quiet. You don’t have anything to say about your space?

AN: I have my thoughts about my space, others have their thoughts about my space. Sometimes I feel the same that others do and sometimes I feel differently. I generally follow what I think, unless what others feel and say makes me think.

PM: There is a huge lawn outside of you, isn’t it and it is maintained so beautifully. I only have some plants. The lawn will make you more nice isn’t it?

LN: It certainly adds to the beauty. However, your plants are maintained so well and whethere it is the leaves or the flowers, they look so fresh and colourful; this adds to your beauty.

SM: You know what, it doesn’t matter whether we look spacious or don’t. What matters is whether the space is utilised as fully as possible or not.

LN:  Oh then, I have to say that only some spaces in me are used. People find some spaces in me wonderful and want to use it but don’t.

AN: Many times people want lots of space and when they get it, they don’t know what to do with it.. or they do something with it but they aren’t happy with it.

SM: Some people use it so effectively and then…

AN: and then?

SM: and then, you fill in the rest 🙂

AN: I am curious to know LN, you were looking around constantly. Why?

LN: Such lovely homes you all have – with a lawn, with potted plants, colourful flowers, brightly painted, nice artefacts etc etc etc. I was peering to see the space that each of you have inside yourselves.

AN, PN, SM (Chorusing together): What did you see?

LN (with a naughty smile): I also saw colurs, artefacts, walls, furniture, appliances etc etc etc.

SM: Also? What else did you see?

LN: People.. and how the space appears based on how they are.. Space is space.. if there is many a wall, then space isn’t seen. If there is less of walls, it looks spacious :-)..

PN: A nice perspective.. I also don’t like walls but when it is built, breaking them isn’t easy and I know I can’t.

LN: Well, you as an immovable object you can’t but…

PN: Those who are living in their homes will more often than not see their homes the way they see themselves..

SM: Assuming that they ‘live’ in their homes and ‘see’ it. I wish I could talk.. I will say all that we spoke and a lot more.

PN: Ha ha.. it is said “If walls have ears…” Imagine if they start to say, “If walls have a mouth..” :-)..

A note from me the blogger – I have always said that if Desmond Morris writes a book on Wall Watching, it would sell like hot cakes. I am no Desmond Morris but I loved this conversation.. A conversation for some laughs and thoughts 🙂
