The angler’s knot by the fishermen or
the improved clinch knot by the captain,
also called the fisherman’s knot.
Figure eight knot of the mointaineer or
the flat over hand bend knot of the rappeler or
the bow line knot used by the tree climbers.
Cleat hitch knot used by the boatsman or
the tailor’s or the dress maker’s knot.
There are many a knot of many a kind,
all to secure things in place.
to safeguard property and people.
The cat which gets caught in the ball of yarn it is attracted to,
goes round and round with the yarn,
not knowing that the yarn can go around it,
entangling it tightly, injuring it perhaps.
The cat in its attempt to unentangle itself,
just not knowing that it can actually make a naught, to walk out of the knots,
knots itself more and more, in and into the yarn.
If a cat entangles itself in and into yarn,
we as humans, entangle ourselves with people and within situations.
The word knot means ‘intentional complication in cordage’ (cords or ropes),
We consciously and intentionally knot ourselves in situations and with people.
Why consciously and intentionally, you may ask,
When we walk into a situation, we know why we want to walk into it,
when we knot ourselves with people and in relationships,
we know why we want to knot ourselves with them.
It is certainly then, conscious and intentional!!
Sometimes we know that it is a ‘naught’ty relationship (no pun intended),
and knotting outselves in it, could bring trouble,
and we look for the naught in the knot and slowy wriggle out of it.
The same can’t be said for the time we knot ourselves in a situation,
involving different people and in different phases.
When we knot ourselves and others,
hard to unknot without causing some damage,
to whom and on whom is the damage, time alone will tell.
Oh well, there are those situations where we move in such a way that,
we knot ourselves around ourselves.
Finding the naught to wriggle out,
needs us to look at ourselves from a 30,000 feet level.
Rather than stay entagled and knotted
and feel closeted and claustrophobic
it would be good to look from that height of 30,000 feet above,
and look beyond the tangled mess we are in,
beyond the knots.
Be ready to throw up our hands to seek help,
for someone to unknot us or
to cut thru the knots and help us unentangle ourselves.
When the knots are cut thru, there is likely to be a damage and a hurt and an injury.
The freedom though that this unentangling unknotting gives,
is worth all that damage, injury and hurt.
To stay knotted or to wriggle thru the naught that makes the knot,
is a decision and call that we need to make.
A decision that needs courage, strength, bravado and resilience,
Can we take it and do we have it?
Because the knots can be just in the head..

Inspiration for this blog is my experience in me struggling to remove the knotted bundle of Poonal and your intervention, which finally solved the puzzle
