There are different milestones we reach in life,
achievement, role, state of mind, age, so on and so forth.
At different milestones, we reflect in different ways,
the journey crossed, the valleys and the peaks in the journey, the lessons learnt and so on and so forth.
As we reflect, there are some questions and a sense of wonder too,
some questions have answers and some don’t.
– Have I come this far?
– I have come this far!!
– So glad to have this person in my life!!
– So much this person has given to me!!
– Why did this relationship go sour?
– When and why did I turn into this kind of a person? (whichever kind it is :-))
– So much that I could do for this person and purpose!!
– Could I have acted differently in that situation?
– I have given all that I could.. Nothing more nothing less..
and so on and so forth..
None of these questions or wonder statements stay on,
they pass by like passing clouds.
However, the reflections leave us in a thoughtful state of mind,
letting us be in a reflective mode!!
As we reflect, we realise that our glass has sometimes been full and balanced,
there were times when it has been brimming, leaving us wobbling, both nicely and not so nicely,
when it has been half empty, giving a sense of, “what do I do now?”
at times empty, making us wonder, “when will this pass?”
There were times when so many people were there and we have felt lonely,
times when no one was around and we knew we weren’t alone.
The journey though has never been alone,
it always has been with people who lend a guidance, a hand to support,
a shoulder to hold on, a ear to listen and so on and so forth,
It is at that moment of reflection when we feel full,
a sense of contentment sets in,
all the jigsaw pieces seem to be in place, at that moment,
we go completely silent inside,
even if it is only for ‘that moment’ 🙂
The next moment raises a question of “What next?”, a question which may or may not have an answer.
However ‘that moment’ of contentment, fullness and silence is when the past, present and future roll into one,
it stays as a moment and leaves in the wake of it – loads of gratitude!!
Gratitude for
– all that has been received and not been
– every lesson learnt, be it in the valley or the peak
– people who have come in and stayed; and those who have left or chosen to leave
– every lived experience
and so on and so forth..
A sense of gratitude that can be overwhelming and fulfilling,
but one that needs to be expressed.
‘Thank you’…
