Watching team games in the last couple of months,

almost on a daily basis, set me thinking.

What sets apart some players from the others?

It is not about them leading their team to a win,

it is about how they go about their playing.

Consistent effort, no matter the situation,

Do they keep their emotions in check, no matter the situation?

More often than not.

They seem to persevere all thru’, in a game,

or a few games or game after game.

So many spectators watching over,

visible to them in the stadium or invisble to them on TV screens.

They seem to be holding the fort so tight and ever so watchfully,

playing it well and playing with the right timing!!

They know when to accelerate and when to break,

they also know when to shift gears.

Who comes in and who goes out, doesn’t seem to ruffle them,

they play their game in their way and in their style, unfazingly.

It doesn’t seem to matter to them if they are replaced in their role,

whichever ball they receive, they play it in the best way they can.

Er, what do they do? Lead..

What are they called? Leader..

A person who take charge of a situation..

A person in control of a situation..

A person who directs, commands or guides..

Who or what do they control, take charge of, direct, command or guide?

Others? NO NO.. Certainly not..

They lead themselves.

They take charge of themselves, they seem to have a handle on the situation..

They guide, direct and command themselves..

(most times if not all :-))..

We may not see what they say to themselves,

we just see them do what they think they need to do.

Pursuit.. Grit.. Resilience.. Excellence.. Perseverence..

What we see of those who lead in the games,

we see in ourselves and / or in others around us, day in and day out.

We all lead in our own way, in our own style

and in the different roles that we don.

Each of us lead ourselves,

and is a leader by our own right.

When others consistently see it being done the way it needs to be,

It may set some apart from the others (while still being a part of the others).

Role models emerge,
