No matter our age, our curiosity is piqued,

when we hear of something that seems different and interesting to us.

No matter the challenge we may have, in engaging in it,

we will ensure that we work around the challenges.

What piqued my curiosity now?

‘Spin class’ – that’s what piqued my curiosity.

I heard a snippet of what it is about,

and when an opportunity came by to attend a class,

I could not but grab the opportunity.

Did I do any research to know more about it?

before the class –  certainly not,

Know less and go for it – a surefire way to enjoy (for me).

After the class – I did my research,

To know the etymology of the term ‘Spin class’ 🙂

Like an all excited little kid,

Dress code – check

Footwear – check

Some inputs on what I neeeded to know about requirements in the class – check

So here’s the snippet of the snippet heard about this class,

– indoor cycling

– on a cycle that is stationary

– set to the rhythm and beat of music that sets the pace and speed of the cycling

– that also sets the heartbeat per minute

Stepping into the space where the class was held, I realised that,

The profile of the bunch of people in the ‘spin class’ was different (from me) :-).

A much young bunch in age and attire,

though, the energy and vibe for the class, from them and me – same to same 🙂

Me being me, looked around at things and people,

just observing and chatting with another young person.

It was time to walk into the class.

I walk in and take in the chill in the atmosphere (thanks to the AC),

had had my cycle seat adjusted and sat on it.

The urge to check if the cycle was stationary enough was high,

teenage memories of renting a cycle,

and falling down while riding it, were topmost.

It was time for the ‘Spin class’ ride to begin.

and what a ride it was!!

I did my own thing with my pace and my speed,

but according to the rhythm and beat of the songs,

and the instructions of the instructor.

My eyes and ears were only on her,

listening to what she said and did,

so that I could follow.

Well, I did go out of the beat and rhythm and couldn’t follow instructions at times,

but it was fun to do that and laugh at myself.

What she said during the ride, still keeps ringing in my head,

‘We are powerful’ and ‘It is all in the mind’.

It was as though I had to hear it,

whatever for, only time will tell.

The class filled me with a feeling of,

gratitude of having experienced the class,

discovering certain facets of myself and have some reinforced.

being happy to ride on a cycle, without falling down 🙂

Oh well!! couldn’t but pat myself on my back!!

It would be incomplete without a few lines about the instructor,

Sahana Jayashankar.

Her happy place as she calls it,

and her happiness and passion shows when she talks about the class.

There is a personal touch when she suddenly springs down from her cycle,

to walk around and give the instructions.

Her energy and spirit in the class, is very infectious,

and left me with a thought of ‘Maybe I should ‘Spin class’ again,

Many doors, Many opportunities, Many experiences…

Life is certainly a miracle and most certainly beautiful!!!
